Cold Weather: Dry Skin Saviours

It's started to suddenly get so cold in England recently and I've been suffering pretty badly with dry skin. I usually pile on loads of moisturiser before going to sleep and wake up in the morning to glowing skin but recently my skins got worse.

Moisturisers for dry skin are really thick and don't seem to sink into my face easily. It wipes off straight away and I'm back to square one. So I've been looking around for a product to give my face a lot more moisture. But instead I've stuck with three.

First up i decided to try out 'Bio Oil'. I was going to order some from Amazon as it seems to be ALOT cheaper than in drugstores but i thought for now I'll just buy a cheap alternative and see how it goes. So i brought this copy 'Renew Oil' from a local supermarket.

So the other day i got up and thought I'd give it a go as i didn't have to be anywhere until the afternoon and if my face was greasy i could sort it out by then. I firstly dampened my face with water so i could get it to sink in more. Clipped my hair back and then rubbed the oil around my face.

Although I felt as if I was rubbing cooking olive oil around my face (which i nearly was) i could feel it sinking in. Yes, i looked like a grease mess but after about 45 minutes the oil had sank in completely leaving me with a hydrated face. It's pretty good for a quick fix and I'm going to be continuing to use it and will order some 'Bio Oil' from Amazon once it has run out.

Next up is E45 moisturising lotion. So I have always used E45 cream for my blemishes such as when I can remember and it works like magic so i when i saw the lotion i thought why not. The first time i used it i left it on over night and in the morning my skin was looking much more healthier. I now use this every night and it works wonders.

Finally i brought this Johnson's moisturiser in superdrug recently as it was on offer and with my student discount worked out as nothing. Although it says it's for normal skin and I'm definitely dry skin i thought to give it a go. It is a much thinner consistency then other moisturisers i have tried but i liked that as the thicker ones wouldn't sink in my skin as it was that dry. I like how i can put it under my primer and foundation and my makeup wont slide off. I also use it partly through the day to give my skin a boost. Worth going to buy!

Has anyone else getting dried out skin recently?

  3. Hi! I always get very dry skin in the colder months. I like Bio-Oil, but more as a body oil because of the nice fragrance. But regular baby oil works just as well on my body... and I have switched back to that since it is less expensive. Nivea cream works well for me on face and body for dry skin. As does CeraVe lotion. And for really dry areas- I think Vaseline works the best. Right now, my routine is baby oil all over my body after the shower with Nivea cream on top of any really dry areas (like my arms and neck). Then CeraVe lotion all over my face with Nivea cream patted on top. Before bed, a little Vaseline on my cuticles and under eye area. Keep us posted on any really good creams or trips that work!
